How to Select the Right Plastic Surgeon?
Check for Board Certification
Make sure your surgeon is certified by a recognized plastic surgery board (e.g., Singapore Medical Council, ABPS, or equivalent). Board certification means the surgeon has undergone formal training and passed rigorous exams in plastic surgery.
Experience in Breast Surgery
Ask: How many breast procedures have you performed? Look for a surgeon who specializes in breast reconstruction or augmentation and performs them regularly. For reconstruction, especially after mastectomy, experience with both implant-based and autologous (tissue) options is key.
Hospital Privileges & Safety
The surgeon should operate in accredited hospitals or surgical centers. Ask where your procedure will be performed and what safety protocols are in place.
Before & After Photos
Reviewing real patient results can help you evaluate their aesthetic style and consistency. Look for patients with similar body types or goals.
Comfort and Communication
Our surgeon should make you feel heard and supported. Do they explain the options clearly? Are they open about risks and recovery? A good surgeon will tailor recommendations to your needs—not pressure you.
Reviews and Recommendations
Read verified patient reviews. Ask your GP, oncologist (if applicable), or trusted friends for referrals.
Transparency on Costs
Ask for a clear breakdown of costs (consultation, surgery, hospital stay, implants, follow-ups). A reputable clinic will be upfront and honest about pricing and financial options.
Pro Tip:
Bring a list of questions to your consultation and trust your instincts. If you feel unsure or rushed, it’s okay to seek a second opinion.
